The latest "sign language interpreters have to wear a head covering" article is a particularly egregious example of the GB's goal of humiliating women. They actually like humiliating everyone, but especially enjoy humiliating people who actually have something to be proud of.

Women as second class citizens
by iMARX ini don't know about anyone else, but even when i was 14 or 15 i had an issue with the fact that women are weaker vessels than men and we are to be submissive to our "head" of the house etc.... people just assumed i was a moody teenager trying to be cool by disagreeing with those scriptures but i was a feminist in the making.. i even asked an elder's wife about it and i said to her: "you're a headstrong woman, how do you feel about this?
do you think you should succumb to paul's every word and do as he says all the time??".
she replied: "i hate that scripture too sarah.

Why no coverage of the Russian ban in the media?
by highdose ini mean not just in russia but world wide, wouldn't this be a great oppotunity to educate the public about this cult????.
hint hint people with media contacts....

Consider this possibility: Russian supreme court, in what appears to be a civil rights violation, siezes and bans JW stuff, calling it extremist. You're a reporter. In order to report accurately, YOU WOULD HAVE TO READ THAT CRAP to determine whether the Russians are right or the JWs are being persecuted for real.
No self-respecting journalist wants to read the Bible Teach book.

E-Watchman vs. Tim Kilgore Resurrection/Recreation Smackdown!
by Tuesday inalright so it's not as heated as i make it seem in my opening, but i said i'd keep everyone posted on this.
i would've posted the video here to get everyone's feedback but the response wasn't anything i hadn't dealt with a hundred times before, now it's just in video form.
in fact it was supposed to be an answer to my first tough question about resurrection vs. recreation but it didn't even answer the question at all, at least i feel.

My reaction after Tim's first video: This sounds like a purely semantic argument. Unimportant.
My reaction after Robert's response: Yup, this is a purely worthless semantic argument.
My reaction after Tim's final response: AHA! So THAT is what makes this argument important. Well played, Tim.
Conclusion: If you watch the first or first two videos and feel like you're wasting your time, don't quit. It all comes together in the third one. Or maybe I'm just dense and didn't "get it" until the third one. Either way, I recommend watching them all.

Sometimes a break from a forum is actually a good thing. You're going to find jerks and lunatics everywhere, though. There is no escaping that.
Take a few days, cool down, then come back. There's a lot more good helpful people here than jerks.

The Sign of Matthew 24 shows we ARE NOT in the last days
by Mad Sweeney inhere is what the nwt says:.
"4and in answer jesus said to them: look out that nobody misleads you;5for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, i am the christ, and will mislead many.6you are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not terrified.
for these things must take place, but the end is not yet.. 7for nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.8all these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.. 9then people will deliver you up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name.10then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another.11and many false prophets will arise and mislead many;12and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off.13but he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.14and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Cut me off. . .
Continued:
Sign 8. Because of increasing lawlessness love of most people will cool off. I don't see it. Crime is down. People are as caring or as indifferent as they used to be. I don't see any big change here, but this one, like number 6, is hard to quantify.
Sign 9. Good news preached in all earth/all nations. Not sure about this one. Are there Christian missionaries in the Uyghur provinces of China? In Pakistan? All nations? Really?
So is Matthew 24 being fulfilled today? Sure doesn't look like it to me.

Here is what the NWT says:
" 4 And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU ; 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 Y OU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.
7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.
9 “Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU , and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. 10 Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; 12 and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. 13 But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. 14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come. "
Sign 1. Many people saying they are the Christ. Hasn't happened. Maybe a handful of loons have showed up making the claim in my lifetime. Nothing close to "many."
Sign 2. You will hear of wars and reports of wars/nation against nation. Wars have ebbed and flowed throughout the centuries. Since the end of WWII, things have remained pretty much the same with no real increase in conflicts globally for 65 years.
Sign 3. Food shortages. The 20th century didn't eradicate starvation, and the total number of hungry is up, but the rate of starvation is way down. Food production has boomed and a much greater percentage of the world is being fed than was the case pre-1914.
Sign 4. Earthquakes. The frequency and power of earthquakes has been consistent and stable for thousands and thousands of years.
Sign 5. Tribulation and killing of Christians as objects of hatred by ALL nations. Not happening. There is local persecution in various places but mass killing of Christians in all nations? Not even close.
Sign 6. Stumbling/betrayals/hatred. Hard to quantify. Is this actually worse than it used to be? I would say the world is at least as civil as it was 100 years ago, though perhaps not more so.
Sign 7. Many false prophets arise and mislead many. This one is happening. No denying it.
Sign 8. Because of increasing lawlessness love of most people will cool off. I don't see it.&

How far would you go to protect your fade?
by jabberwock intrying to fade inevitably involves some compromises.
still, i wonder how far i would be willing to go in order to leave on my own terms and not be disfellowshipped or pushed to disassociate.. at what point would you just give up and let them disfellowship you or send in a letter of disassociation?.
what would you do if someone found your copy of of crisis of conscience?.

I am hoping to fade but if it comes down to battle verus no battle, I'm not going to fight. They can meet to talk about me all they like but I won't be there.

despondant witness
by IwateBuddy ini moved to a small town about a year and a half ago.
a jehovah's witness came knocking on my door and i gave him the brush-off but he kept coming back and pestering me until i finally agreed to study with him.
we've been studying for about three or four months now and he has lost his original enthusiasm to the point where i am starting to worry about him.

You might want to double check with him on why he is so upset/shaken. It might be because he's doubting the WT or it might also be that he actually likes you and is worried that you're about to be destroyed. Confirm whether you've shaken his faith in the WT or his faith in his ability to convert you.

HUGE Milestone!
by lepermessiah ini wanted to share a milestone that i am extremely excited about - my field circus report for november!.
hours - zero.
for the first time in my life, after over 30+ years of going out in "service" - all goose eggs, baby!
-

"Good for you. I did 0 too - but reported 8."
LOL. I've done that sort of thing, too. I figure if pioneers can tweak their hours by the dozen each month, then I can count my time discussing God/nature/science with my family or discussing religious topics at online boards like this. It's a lot more productive than door to door, if the goal is discussing truth with people.
